Nope, whenever you buy a game, they ship everything to you, weather you want it or not.Does steam support NO CD?
Games you buy on Steam don't require a CD (obviously), but CD-requiring games that you simply just add to the Steam games list as a shortcut will still require a CD.
Say I bought L4D cd version which has to get activated on steam could I somehow no cd it? It is only valid for one account.
Once u activated it you dont need the cd EVER its on ur account forever! if you have a other pc just login steam and download the game.

This is completely correct. You could throw out the disc if you wanted to at this point.
Well since you bought the game I think this is legal , get the crack for it.
no I was actually able to start the game with no cd in the drive which is pretty cool I am a convert to steam now.
Well since you bought the game I think this is legal , get the crack for it.
actually i was reading up on these things and it's illegal to have a crack even if you own the game. not that anyone will know, but.... it's part of the digital millenium act i think. saying having any part of the piracy process is illegal. which means dvd burners and blank media are illegal

Dvd Burners and blank media wouldn't be illegal... People use them when making their own home movies, or when making picture cd's for family...
Yeah, those things have legal purposes so they are legal... What is funny is Sony for example makes both dvd burners and blank media, lol. I guess they figure they might as well make a little on the piracy... But its illegal to break the copy protection on a disk you own (I think), so if you had a copy of something you owned the copyright to, it would be illegal to make a copy, lol. Not that most people care about the legal status of most these things, its not like someone is going to catch you ripping a netflix dvd or whatever.

So is it illegal to own Fallout 3 (the disc form) because Bethesda released their own crack in the game itself.... I have to use it because the SecuRom can tell i have the freaking disc in (it did when i installed it the 1st time, but it started denying the game about 1 week after owning the game). All you do is open explore and use the Fallout.exe instead of the Launcher.exe and hey it works... Same with the install.
So wouldn't that be illegal? I mean Bethseda put SecuRom on the game so you HAD to have the CD, but then they put on their own crack... I don't find it illegal really to have a crack. Just like it isn't illegal to make copies of games or movies... As long as you only use it as it is supposed to be (a copy.... not give it to your friends). Why would being able to use the product we paid for illegal if making a copy is not?
Why dont you just crack the game if you already own it?Edit: Lol didnt read the stuff above, but honestly its your stuff why should you let someone else tell you how to use it?

He's wrong, it's not illegal to have/use anything used in the piracy process doing something legal. It's legal to use torrents to download things that people have consented the use of torrents. Examples would be things like Linux, or other open source/free programs using torrents in a legal way. Cracks while they can be used illegal are sometimes handed out to remove those nasty install limits as well as a cd-requirement.

Games which you register with steam can be downloaded thru steam over and over... so i guess the CD's become useless.

only if it's a valve game or it's supported by steam. not ones you create shortcuts through steam

It's not strictly illegal, but you won't have a leg to stand on if you are pursued legally if you personally reverse-engineer the code, which is what the people making the cracks do. IIRC it's not at all illegal to USE a crack, but making one is.

O.O why would u then if u had to reinstall it u would have to wait several hours to download 4.8 gigs just to play it again as opposed to 15 minutes to install of the dvd :D and the box art is pretty cool but i hate these new slim game cases :(

The copies of Half-Life 1 Anthology and Half-Life 2 I bought from Retail just activated the download from Steam, and I haven't bought any Valve games at retail since.
