How does my computer rank after 1 year?

I bought a Dell XPS 720 exactly one year ago and It was pretty much a top end gaming pc, I just want to get an idea from gamers about where my PC stands today.Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00 GHZMemory (RAM): 2045 MBSystem type: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit Operatiing System Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768mbSound: Sound Blaster Xi-Fi XtremeGamerMotherboard: NVIDIA nForce 680iWhat do you think? How does my computer rank after 1 year?
wow nice rig. 9.5/10 IMOShould be good for atleast 3 yrs, just might need to upgrade your GPU to something better. I've seen some GTX 260's on sale for 249.99$.How does my computer rank after 1 year?
That sounds like a good deal there. I wish I could swap my GPU out but I have a laptop so I'm kinda screwed on that. I'm also an Apple fanboy so yea haha. I'm just going to wait until the next line of iMac's come out and get one of them, I'll be good for a while after that happens. I'd honestly say that his GPU is fine for the next year or so, maybe longer.
You max everything except crysis for sure :P
My GPU can run Crysis, even though a lot of people don't believe me.
Interesting, I wasn't expecting good responses but it seems like my PC is still better than average. Yeah, I don't think it can run Crysis on max settings at a respectable frame rate, good thing I don't play it.Thanks for the replies. :D
It's still a decent setup..... You should be good for at least another year without needing an upgrade. Without any upgrades: 2yrs from now it will still run most games on medium settings....3yrs, may not be able to run some games at all or have to run some on minimal settings. I've got a similiar setup (Q6600, 3GB Ram, 8800GT) and I plan on upgrading around this time next year. The problem with Dell rigs is that they use proprietary cases/PSUs....They usually go with the absolute bare minimum PSU wattage for the system and sometimes don't offer upgrades to it. This is done on purpose because it forces customers to buy new systems rather than just upgrading them for far cheaper. Overall, nothing to worry about for now..... I suggest next time you just build the rig on your own so you have complete control.
three years? three fookin years?! id say one year for graphics card depending on resolution and two years for everything else.
yeah its still pretty decent any one who bought a 8800gtx when it first came out in 2006 have gotten alot of longevity out of them. its still a decent card that is faster then a 8800gt which is still considered good for gaming today so yeah 6.8/10

A 10/10 for you must be an 8 core, 8 GPU, 16GB Ram MONSTER!!I give it a 8/10, it is better than mine and I consider mine a 7/10 at least, still plays 99% of games on max.PS: I agree with an earlier poster that Dell computers are very hard to upgrade compared to custom build. Im sure you did get a good deal, but if you don't mind a minor headache and research, building customs has many rewards. (the headache for me was waiting to see what happened when I hit the power button for the first time :) )
I get an employee discount with Dell, that's why I bought my pc from them. I have a 3 year warranty so if anything goes bad, they will replace it or upgrade it depending if they have the same parts available or not.
it would rank well in the hardware forums
that a good rig you may need to upgrade your gpu a little
I'm going to look into Apple being able to upgrade my GPU (You can finally upgrade them now) around this time next year. I want to see if I can get my hands on one of the 9 series that are actually better than the 8 series.
What is the cap on memory for a 32-BIT Operating System? I can get RAM dirt cheap from Dell. Should I get another 1 gb or a 2 gb stick of ram? Would that make my computer noticably better or not really?
3.25GB-ish.
CPU: you can push that up to 3.4 can't you? Otherwise good, Core I7 isn't worth the upgrade; wait until next gen.GPU: wait until next gen (arriving very soon) then spring; 8800 GTX is getting longer in the tooth for sureDouble your mem and convert to 64 bit; you can do this dirt cheap and order a 64 bit disk for around $10 from M$
When will computer companies sell the next generation GPU's that are coming out January 11th I think? I read that somewhere in the forums. Is that true?
I wish I had your computer a year ago. It's still pretty good.
True next gen spring/summer; dual nvidia 260 gtx gpu cards in jan.
