Counter strike steam question

alright i want to know if i buy half life off steam can i play counter strike or do i have to buy it on its own. Counter strike steam question

That's kind of amibiguous... if you go to steampowered.com it will explain all of the buying options, like packs and other stuff. Short answer though, no, if you only buy half-life on steam, it will not let you play counter strike like the retail half life.Counter strike steam question

You have to buy them seperately.
That is my one beef with Steam - they package things retail that they don't always do online. I bought HL2 in the store, and it included CS:S and HL2 DM. But if you bought HL2 off of steam (for the same price) you didn't get CS:S or HL2 DM with it.So unless you specifically buy a package deal (like Orange Box), you only get what you pay for, and nothing else.

Like everything else, you need to make sure you look around before you buy things. You can find some great deals on steam and some not so great deals steam. It is all to do with the luck of the draw.
But what if you did it the other way??I bought CS:S thinking i can download it and play. But it says there is no hl2 file found or somthing like that?Does this mean i have to buy Half Life 2?
You can have CS:S and not have HL2. They all run on the same engine.

You just need to pre-load the HL2 engine. You dont need to purchase it.
