Since Irrational games did not have the rights to the system shock series (where many of the original SS developers now work) they were unable to call it system shock 3. Stories are not linked in anyway, and they have completly different settings, but the game play is similar.

ok, whats the deal with bioshock and system shock? i have heard them both in the same sentence many time but no one has ever told me what the connection is.bioshock and system shock
