Should I buy Far Cry 2 or COD 4?

Ive been waiting and waiting for COD4 to come down in price. Obviously it hasn't gone down much in a year. I also Just upgraded my video card and installed the demo again for COD 4. I'm more impressed and temped to buy it. Far Cry 2 is the same price so what should I buy? I like both linear and open world games, what do you guys think?Should I buy Far Cry 2 or COD 4?

Get COD4 as i bought far cry 2 and it really sucks bad. I felt ripped off. COD4 on the other hand is a great game both singleplayer and multi.
If you want a good multiplayer, you should get COD 4. Far Cry 2 also is a great gaming experience, the scenario and the guns are pretty good, the only thing that pisses me off, is the driving, and the guardposts, if you want to go anywhere, you got to be equipped, because you'll have to kill many people if your objective is on the other side of the country. But believe me, it's not a bad game.
Cod 4 by far , Far Cry 2 will get old fast.
COD4 all the way!

How can anyone call constantly and fast respawning guard posts a great gaming experience? Especially when you can't avoid them.

It totally kills immersion as does the fact everyone you meet fires on you instantly even if you work for their faction. Ok i know its opinion and you are entitled to yours i just can't understand anyone liking a game that is so repetive and should have been called far drive.

Thanks for you two cents, although I'm looking for answers that are a little more constructive. I assume your answer is COD4 then? Why?
COD 4 has a great multiplayer and a decent single player , while Far Cry has a somewhat decent single player and a horible multiplayer. I agree with dannyw7982

Thanks x. Between just single player campaigns what will have the most replay value? I'm so burnt out with online FPS. I have Crysis but the AI is kind of on the retarded side. Its some what a challenge when you have 15 Koreans shooting you at the same time but then your just playing hide cloak and seek.
NOT fc2. its fun but incredible repetitiveit should have been called far drive 2. i only have it cause it came with my gtx 260

Far Drive would be a good name.

The good thing about guard post respawning, for me, is the fact that i can try new ways to assault, and the respawning is reasonable, because, after all african women can't stop having children.. Haha.
COD4

Im sorry, but THIS is your reason that CoD4 > FC2?

Have you SEEN the amount of respawing enemies that CoD4 has?

That said, If you HAVE to get one of them, I recommend CoD4. Although both are highly overrated game.

Get Crysis instead.
I'd go with Call of Duty 4, the single player is the one of the best (I might even rank it as number 1) single players experiences in an FPS that I have played. I also found the multiplayer very entertaining and one of the few multiplayer shooters that has kept me coming back for more. I can't really comment on Farcry 2 as I only played it for a few hours before I got bored (I don't really enjoy the open-ended games very much) and just so you know the multiplayer has an console style lobby/matchmaking system. I really hate using that system, that's one of the reasons I didn't try out multiplayer.
Get COD 4 NOW!, far cry 2 is a great game, but the SP and MP of COD 4 overshine far cry 2 by miles.
Don't listen to the folks saying FC 2 sucks. It simply doesn't. I personally hate COD games, but I know they are quite good. FC 2 is like Crysis. It's got great overall appearance and freedom, where COD is more focused on the shooting and gameplay. If your looking for an experience, get FC 2, but if you just want a straight foward, in your face shooter, get COD. You can't go wrong with either, just make sure you know what your'e buying.

K a couple of quick reasons for me personally.

In COD4 single player there were moments that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It really is an awesome game and has well constructed levels and gameplay. My main problem is that the single player experience is a little short compared to some fps games.

In far cry 2 you get about 30 mins of ohhss and ahhs before you realise, WTF i left this area 2 minutes ago and its like i was never here as all the guys are back and the buildings rebuilt. Also most missions consist of drive here kill this then drive somewhere else kill that rinse and repeat.

And the driving parts are long and boring and consist of going through alot of magic respawning checkpoints.

Look just go for what you like the look of but imo far ry really was a let down, especially for a game i had so much hope for and had pre ordered.
CoD4 hands down (mainly for the multiplayer). If you liked the demo, there's really no doubt that you will enjoy the rest of the singleplayer.
