Hey, hope this is where this should go. I have a high-end Alienware gaming laptop with plenty of RAM running Windows Vista Home Edition, but I can't even install The Sims 1. I put in the disk and nothing happens. The thing pops up that says auto-play but I click that and it does nothing. I go to Computer, see the thing in the drive and right click Properties but there is no tab to run it in compatibility mode and there is no need to ''Run as Administrator'' because I only have one account on this laptop and it is an Admin. account. What should I do? Thanks.EDIT: I got it to work. I went into msconfig, went to start up, unchecked everything, restarted and it worked. Dunno' why but, yeah, all set. Having a problem with The Sims 1 and Vista...
Try, right clicking the disc in My Computer and clicking explore, then double click the installation file. Try setting it to Run as Admin aswell.Having a problem with The Sims 1 and Vista...

I am not 100% sure about that but if you really want your life simple right click the short cut, select properties and have it always run as adminstrator. Oh and the reason MS did this is becuase they got tired of all the moaning about XP being unsecure compared to Linux and Apple.Always be careful what we ask for.

I individually run each file that I can to run as admin. nothing! I click properties on my computer on the disc but there is no option to run as admin. every time.
Get The Sims 2 Deluxe Edition it is only $20 and it comes with the actual game and two expansions
I'm having the exact same problems as you are. Except I managed to get the original disk installed. But now, when I go to install House Party, nothing happens. I've tried running as an admin, setting compatability, everything. Do you think editing the start-up would help for that, too?
